Systems Engineering Leader

The Systems Engineering Leader will ensure the overall successful design and project support of the production and installation of process machinery equipment and solutions; developing and managing the engineering (mechanical, electrical, automation & controls) design and resource plan to assure projects are completed on-time, per specification and on budget. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement mechanical control solutions to achieve greatest productivity in relating to the production and quality assurance of parts, information systems and equipment documentation
  • Work with vendors to establish control strategies and automation details. Perform work within applicable standards, guidelines, and procedures
  • Perform technical engineering activities as part of a project team and/or execute technical tasks in the design, development, implementation, and documentation of process automation/control projects
  • Involved in the implementation, installation, validation and ongoing development of controls and automation systems to insure they meet stated requirements.
  • Handle project ranging from single machine builds to plant-wide automation processes
  • Work cross functionally to optimize product offerings, reduce costs and improve value
  • Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment
  • Collaborate and communicate positively and effectively with engineering, production, planning and others to resolve issues and accomplish goals
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines in a multi-tasking environment
  • Interfaces with customers to design, develop and implement projects, troubleshoot, and provide training
  • 10% – 20% travel is typical

    Requirements:

    • Ability to lead/mentor an engineering team to achieve deliverables on time and on budget.
    • Knowledge of Ethernet networking, IP addressing DHCP and static, Sub-netting, VLANs, basic routing, Managed switch basics
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    • Five or more years of prior industrial controls and automation experience on projects of various sizes and complexities
    • Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems in test and operational environments
    • Expertise with automation software (Allen Bradley or Siemens desirable) with knowledge of automation testing, verification and validation
    • Hands-on electrical schematic design automation software experience (AutoCAD Electrical)
    • Experience with capital equipment design, production, testing and installation
    • Knowledge of and experience using industry standards and codes, and ability to engineer design based on customer specifications.
    • Ability to function as part of a cross functional project team
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

      Sales Engineer

      This talented and energetic individual will thrive in a fast pace and dimensional industrial buisness environment. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining regular contact with our existing customer base to assure we are in position to capitalize on incremental sales opportunities. Serve as the point between the customer and company sales and engineering resources to assure the development and delivery of “best of class” solutions. 

      Responsibilities:

      • Serve as the primary sales contact for our existing customer base. 
      • Research accounts (existing and prospective) identify key players, understand needs and generate interest in our products and services.
      • Maintain and expand database of customers and prospects.
      • Coordinate involvement with various industry events, trade shows, etc. 
      • Develop and maintain knowledge of current applications and product line to facilitate configured solutions, parts and service sales 
      • Develop sales estimates, quotes and proposals, coordinating multiple sources from within and outside the company … serving as our internal expert in optimizing cost and product applications.
      • Serve as the primary contact and technical expert in the support of our legacy customer/product installations. 
      • Work with multiple internal disciplines to develop and deliver “best of class” solutions to identify and secure new project, parts and service sales.
      • Support leadership in optimizing efficient and effective performance of the sales and customer service function of the company. 
      • Undertake individual tasks of sales and marketing campaigns as assigned.

        Requirements:

        • Proven experience configuring, quoting and selling products, components and parts (electro-mechanical) into industrial markets. 
        • Track record of achievement through strong phone presence making outbound calls for lead generation.
        • Demonstrated experience in marketing data analytics and tools.
        • Computer skills including MS Office, CRM platforms, marketing software (i.e. Adobe creative suite) and web applications (web analytics, Google Adwords, etc.)
        • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
        • Strong organization and attention to detail; ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively. 
        • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and problem solver.
        • Occasional travel (10-20%) to visit and support customers.
        • Technical degree preferred, but not required.

          Mechanical Engineer

          The Mechanical Engineer will ensure the successful mechanical design and project support of the production and installation of process machinery for hydraulic press and material handling applications.

          Responsibilities:

          • Design equipment for configured solutions to meet specified requirements for production machinery.
          • Design prototypes to then be converted into standard product templates for future product platforms.
          • Help lead projects from conception to execution on-time and on-budget.
          • Evaluate concepts and conduct design reviews for all critical projects.
          • Work with sales team to develop and deliver “best of class” designs to secure new projects.
          • Assure on-time delivery of design packages for production.
          • Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering standards and processes.
          • Develop procedures for equipment design verification and validation
          • Generation and maintenance of Autodesk design and data management files and tool sets.
          • Support fellow engineers in optimizing efficient and effective performance of the mechanical design team.

          Equipment Assembly Mechanic

          Qualifications

          • BS Mechanical Engineering 
          • 2+ years of experience in the design and specification of capital equipment.
          • High level of proficiency with solid modeling software (Autodesk / Inventor / Vault experience preferred)
          • Expertise creating detailed equipment documentation, technical calculations, and design specifications for automated manufacturing equipment. 
          • Experience designing standard product platforms (templates) from initial prototype designs in a project-oriented environment.
          • Ability to work under pressure, managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
          • Strong problem-solving skills
          • Strong verbal and written communication skills
          • Strong organization and attention to detail
          • Process machinery industry experience preferred.

            SparTek Industries is seeking qualified Equipment Assembly Mechanics at our Portland, Oregon facility. The Equipment Assembly Mechanics are responsible for the final assembly and testing of our custom PLC controlled, hydraulically actuated industrial process machinery.

            The responsibilities and duties of a proficient Equipment Assembly Mechanic include:

            • Assembling and connecting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components according to engineering specifications such as blueprints and hydraulic/electrical schematics.
            • Verifying that parts and assemblies meet engineering specifications.
            • Inspecting and testing assembled equipment to ensure conformance to customer specifications.
            • Abiding by all shop safety standards.

            Qualifications

            • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the assembly of PLC controlled industrial process equipment.
            • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions.

            • Able to safely operate and use hand and power tools.
            • Strong attention to detail.
            • A positive attitude and reliable attendance.
